DESIGN MANAGER – CIVIL & ARCHITECT
LOCATION: DR. ZIAUDDIN HOSPITAL, HEAD OFFICE, NORTH NAZIMABAD KARACHI
JOB SUMMARY:
Dr. Ziauddin Hospital is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Design Manager – Civil & Architecture to lead the planning, design, coordination, and execution of hospital infrastructure projects. The incumbent will be responsible for working on large scale health care, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards, project timelines, quality requirements, and budget constraints.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the architectural and civil design development of large-scale hospital buildings and related healthcare facilities.
- Review and approve architectural drawings, civil layouts, specifications, and design documents.
- Coordinate with consultants, architects, structural engineers, MEP teams, and contractors throughout project lifecycles.
- Ensure designs comply with local building regulations, healthcare facility standards, and safety requirements.
- Develop design strategies that optimize functionality, patient experience, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
- Ensure all designs adhere to healthcare industry regulations, building codes, and accreditation requirements.
- Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Assist in project budgeting and cost estimation processes.
- Evaluate design alternatives to achieve cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
- Lead and mentor architects, civil engineers, and design consultants.
- Prepare project reports, presentations, and management updates.
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCES:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and MS Office.
- Past experience of large-scale building projects.
- Strong understanding of hospital planning and healthcare infrastructure requirements.
- Knowledge of building codes, construction methodologies, and project management practices.
- Ability to review architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, or a related field, Master’s Degree in Project Management, Architecture, or Engineering will be an added advantage. Registered Architect or Professional Engineer preferred.
- Working Experience: Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in architectural and civil design management, At least 2-4 years in a Health care.

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for preparing, developing, and coordinating detailed architectural and construction drawings for healthcare and educational facilities. Ensures accuracy, compliance with building codes and healthcare standards, and effective coordination with architects, engineers, and consultants for smooth project execution.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare accurate architectural working drawings, detailed sections, shop drawings, and construction documentation.
- Draft layouts for OPDs, ICUs, laboratories, diagnostic areas, classrooms, offices, and other specialized spaces.
- Incorporate redline markups, revisions, and technical instructions from architects and consultants.
- Conduct site measurements and update as-built drawings accordingly.
- Assist project teams in preparing BOQs, schedules, technical documentation, and drawing registers.
- Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, MEP consultants, and contractors to ensure drawing accuracy and consistency.
- Develop and maintain CAD/Revit standards and healthcare-specific drafting templates.
- Ensure all drawings comply with applicable building codes, healthcare regulations, and organizational standards.
- Support project execution by providing timely drawing updates and technical drafting assistance.
- Maintain proper documentation and archiving of project drawings and revisions.
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCES:
- Strong understanding of healthcare facility design, including zoning, circulation, accessibility, and clean/dirty flow requirements.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings, site conditions, and technical details.
- Basic knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and healthcare drafting standards.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Attention to detail with a high level of drafting accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM software, and Microsoft Office applications.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Academic Qualifications: Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) – Civil or Architecture from a recognized institution, or equivalent qualification.
- Professional Qualifications: Certification in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or related drafting software will be preferred.
- Working Experience: 5-10 years of professional experience in architectural drafting preferably in healthcare projects (hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, laboratories).
