WE’RE HIRING Assistant Cane Manager

Unicol Sugar Division • Sargodha, Pakistan • Full-time

Unicol Sugar Division is looking for an experienced cane management professional to support the planning, procurement, and development of cane supply for the mill. Reporting to the Deputy Cane Manager, you’ll help ensure an adequate, quality cane supply through the crushing season by managing grower relationships, field operations, and cane logistics, while supporting cane development initiatives during the off-season.

The Incumbent Will Be Responsible For

CANE PROCUREMENT & SUPPLY OPERATIONS

Support end-to-end cane procurement to ensure uninterrupted mill supply through the crushing season.
Coordinate cane indenting, weighment, and transport scheduling across zones and cane-purchasing centers.
Monitor daily cane supply against crushing targets and proactively address shortfalls.
Assist in cane payment processing and reconciliation with growers.

GROWER RELATIONS & FIELD DEVELOPMENT

Build and maintain strong relationships with growers across the assigned zone.
Support cane development programs — variety promotion, seed distribution, and best-practice advisory to growers.
Conduct field visits to assess crop condition, yield estimates, and harvest planning.
Assist in resolving grower disputes and payment queries.

PLANNING, BUDGETING & TEAM LEADERSHIP

Assist the Deputy Cane Manager in preparing seasonal cane procurement plans and budgets.
Supervise field staff, weighbridge personnel, and zonal cane officers.
Plan manpower and transport deployment across cane centers during the season.
Monitor costs against budget and flag variances.

COMPLIANCE & DOCUMENTATION

Ensure accurate maintenance of grower records, cane agreements, and weighment documentation.
Ensure compliance with the Sugar Factories Control Act and related statutory requirements.
Maintain accurate MIS reports on cane supply, recovery, and grower payments.
Coordinate with Finance, Production, and Transport/Logistics for smooth cane flow.

Job Requirements

B.Sc. in Agronomy (minimum requirement through a reputable institution).
4–6 years of progressive experience in cane procurement or cane development within the sugar industry.
Strong working knowledge of cane procurement, grower relations, and field operations.
Experience with cane weighment systems and transport/logistics coordination.
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with ERP systems and MS Office.
Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned cane zone.
