Officer/Technician Civil – Comprehensive
The ideal candidate should have the following qualification, experience and skill sets:
- DAE/B.Tech in Civil minimum 5-6 years hands-on experience in civil engineering in thermal power plant projects, covering site development, structural integrity, infrastructure maintenance, compliant with industrial and environmental standards.
- Familiarity with HSE standards (e.g. OSHA, NFPA, ISO 45001).
- Lockout/ Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry and working at heights procedures.
- Proficient in inspecting concrete and steel structures for cracks, spalling, corrosion, deformation and other signs of deterioration.
- Skilled in using inspection and civil field surveys tools like total stations for structural surveys.
- Knowledge of civil repair methods, including concrete patching, grouting, crack injection, rebar replacement and protective coatings.
- Understanding of settlement monitoring, soil stabilization and re-leveling techniques for equipment and building foundations.
- Familiar with grouting, soil compaction and micro-piling in repair scenarios.
- Maintenance of plant buildings, roads pavements, fencing, internal drains and other auxiliary structures.
- Execution of painting, waterproofing, sealant application and masonry repairs.
The main responsibilities of the position will involve:
- Plan and execute maintenance and repair activities such as concrete patching, rebar replacement, sealing joints and re-plastering.
- Address structural deterioration caused by heat, vibration, coal dust, or chemical exposure.
- Carry out surface protection works including epoxy coating, waterproofing and corrosion treatment.
- Maintain storm water and wastewater drainage systems, including catch basins, culverts, channels and sumps.
- Prevent flooding and water logging in operational areas through proper slope correction and drainage upgrades. Monitor for signs of wear, cracks, settlement, corrosion or water seepage in concrete, masonry and steel structures.
- Manage grading, compaction and surface repairs (e.g. Asphalt or concrete surfacing).
- Coordinate civil interface works with mechanical, electrical and I&C departments.
- Enforce HSE practices during excavation, working at heights, confined space entry and hot work.
- Ensure civil works comply with statutory requirements (e.g. local building codes, pollution control norms).
- Prepare and maintain maintenance schedules, work permits daily progress reports and repair records.
