Job Responsibilities
- Librarian’s job is not only issuing books or keeping record of books. The main concept is to provide information, resource and syllabus based programmes to enhance student learning across the curriculum.
- To see that every book bought for the library is entered in the Accession Register with full information, according to the column provided.
- To put the correct colour-coded cards and pockets, Shelf registers.
- To train students how to select books according to their level and interest.
- To take care and repair all books.
- To ensure security of books and accurate record keeping.
- To improve reading skills of reluctant readers and maintain reading register.
- Give full support to the staff members in selecting and providing books.
- Making informative corners and soft board displays.
- To arrange competitions and assembly presentation.
- To write planner and monthly report.
- Support curriculum programme (for teachers/students).
- Encourage investigative study and Develop and improve reading skills.
- Stimulate child’s curiosity and Improve child’s understanding of subjects
- Develop good reading habits and the love for reading books.
- Make library attractive, colourful and inviting.
- Be well prepared and organized at all time (Librarians).
- Set up interest boards that stimulate the curiosity of the child.
- Make books easily available to a child which is of his/her age ability level.
- Plan activities that encourage maximum student involvement.
- Provide a variety of books to avoid monotony and repetition.
- Provide books which are subject related and also provide information on a variety of subjects.
- Most prominently – create an environment inside and outside your libraries which emits and atmosphere that something stimulating is happening-make it happen
