Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Head of Internal Audit is to lead the independent and objective evaluation of organizational operations for the company, on behalf of the Board Audit Committee. He/She ensures a systematic and disciplined approach to the Governance, Management and Control of the internal audit processes. The incumbent works with extensive latitude for initiative and independent judgment in leading a comprehensive audit program. Furthermore, he/she directs the development of the annual audit plan including ongoing training, coaching and supervision of internal audit staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing a flexible Annual Audit Plan using an appropriate risk-based methodology, and including any risks or control concerns identified by management, and submitting that plan to the BAC for review and approval. Â
- Implementing the approved plan, including any special tasks or projects requested by management and the BAC.
- Maintaining a professional audit staff with sufficient knowledge, skills, experience, and professional certifications to meet the requirements of this charter. Â
- Issuing periodic reports to the BAC and management summarizing results of audit activities.
- Keeping the BAC informed of emerging trends and successful practices in internal auditing.
- Helping in the investigation of significant suspected fraudulent activities and notifying management and the BAC of the results.
- Considering the scope of work of the external auditor and regulator for the purpose of providing and coordinating optimal audit coverage to the company at a reasonable overall cost.
- For significant observations or recommendations, monitoring and ensuring that management actions have been effectively implemented or that senior management has accepted the risk of not taking action. Â
- Monitoring adherence to the PMIC policies, surfacing exceptions and advancing on the integrity of the processes.
Education:
Qualified Chartered Accountant (Cost Management Accountant/Certified Internal Auditor – CIA) or Masters Degree in Finance
Experience:
More than 15 years of working experience in the relevant field
Technical Skills:
- Advanced understanding of auditing concepts and principles along with CIA Accreditation
- Experience of setting and enforcing standards within a finance environment.
