Responsibilities:
-Inspect and evaluate raw and finished leather based on texture, color, thickness, grain, defects, and finish.
-Select and grade leather according to the requirements of various footwear styles (e.g., upper, lining, insole).
-Ensure selected leather meets the company’s quality standards and customer specifications.
-Work closely with sourcing and production teams to align leather selection with production plans and timelines.
-Maintain proper records of leather inventory, grades, and usage.
-Identify defects such as scars, scratches, wrinkles, or irregular dyeing and determine their usability.
-Suggest alternatives when required materials are unavailable or do not meet quality standards.
-Participate in leather trials and provide feedback on performance and suitability for specific footwear products.
-Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and quality control standards in handling and storing leather.
