Since 1994, READ Foundation has empowered over 130,000 children, including 14,000 orphans, through quality education in 624 schools across Pakistan. It supports out-of-school girls via community learning centers, partners with Punjab’s government for public schools, and provides emergency aid and rehabilitation to crisis-affected communities.

Position: Safeguarding Officer

Job Purpose:

Support the Safeguarding Lead in implementing READ Foundation’s Safeguarding Policy across offices, schools, projects and field operations. Coordinate prevention, reporting and support activities to protect children, vulnerable adults, staff and communities from harm.

Key Responsibilities:

Support policy implementation, assess safeguarding risks and follow up on preventive and corrective actions.
Conduct safeguarding training and awareness sessions for staff, teachers, volunteers and relevant stakeholders.
Promote accessible reporting channels for children, parents, staff and communities.
Receive, record and promptly refer concerns through approved reporting procedures.
Coordinate appropriate support and referrals for affected individuals under the Safeguarding Lead’s guidance.
Maintain confidential case records, track response timelines and support authorised investigation committees.
Conduct field visits and coordinate with safeguarding focal persons, programme teams and relevant service providers.
Prepare progress reports and recommend improvements in safeguarding practices.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Development Studies or a related field.
At least two years of relevant experience in safeguarding, child protection, prevention of gender-based violence or community development.
Experience in the NGO or development sector is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, confidentiality and support that prioritises affected individuals’ safety and dignity.
Strong communication, training, coordination and report-writing skills.
Ability to handle sensitive concerns with professionalism, integrity and impartiality.
Sound judgement, risk assessment and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to travel to schools and project locations.

Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Orphan Sponsorship Program

Job Purpose:

Under the supervision of HOD-M&ED, monitor the Orphan Sponsorship Program, verify beneficiary data and delivery of assistance, and assess progress against agreed targets. Provide accurate, timely findings and reports to support accountability and programme improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and verify school fee payments, monthly stipends and receipt of educational materials by sponsored children.
Conduct regular field visits to schools and beneficiaries across AJK to verify activities, records and reported progress.
Maintain accurate beneficiary records and project databases; identify and follow up on missing or inconsistent data.
Collect, validate and analyse data against agreed indicators and targets, and document beneficiary feedback.
Prepare field visit reports and monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports for management and donors.
Monitor safeguarding training and other planned activities, including participation and completion.
Report implementation gaps to HOD-M&ED, recommend improvements and track agreed corrective actions with Field Officers, school heads and relevant departments.
Protect beneficiary information, follow child safeguarding standards and promptly report concerns through approved channels.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Economics, Development Studies or a related field.
At least two years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, data management or project reporting; NGO or development-sector experience preferred.
Experience in education or child welfare projects will be an advantage.

Knowledge/Skills:

MS Excel, Word and database management; data verification and analysis.
Report writing, communication and stakeholder coordination.
Attention to detail, impartiality, confidentiality and child safeguarding.
Willingness and ability to undertake extensive field visits across AJK.

Job Details:

Job Status: Contractual – 12 Months
Duty Location: Head Office, Islamabad; extensive field visits across AJK
Monthly Salary: Up to PKR 62,000
