Our Department of Physiology at Clifton Site is seeking an enthusiastic candidate for the Position of
LABORATORY ASSISTANT / TECHNOLOGIST
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and set up laboratory equipment, chemicals, and specimens for scheduled practical sessions.
- Assist faculty members during practical demonstrations and teaching sessions.
- Maintain laboratory records, inventory, and stock of equipment, glassware, and consumables.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety of the laboratory at all times.
- Calibrate and perform minor repairs on laboratory equipment when required.
- Handle specimen storage, preservation, and safe disposal of laboratory waste in compliance with biosafety guidelines.
- Support in maintaining documentation for regulatory compliance (PMDC).
- Provide substitute technical assistance in case of staff leave or absence to ensure uninterrupted teaching.
- Perform additional duties such as storekeeping and data entry (if required by the department).
QUALIFICATION
- BS-MLT (Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology) from an HEC-recognized institution; OR
- Diploma / Certification in Medical Laboratory Technology with relevant experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years of relevant laboratory experience in a medical or educational institution.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong knowledge of laboratory practices, equipment handling, and safety protocols.
- Ability to support simultaneous practical sessions.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office, data entry).
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational ability.
